We've been having so much fun learning all about apples! Here is a picture adventure of our activities...
We started by tasting a yellow, green and red apple and then voting on our favorite!
I just love some of the looks I get when I'm snapping pictures! :)
We voted two ways. The first was a graph, the second (below) we made apples to hang on the tree.
The trees say:
Apple trees, apple trees,
Oh so tall!
Which apple do you like best of all?
Next, we made HOMEMADE applesauce in the crockpot. Our classroom and hall were full of apple aroma!
The kids watched me peel and cut up the apples, but they got to add the sugar, cinnamon and water!
We cooked our applesauce for 9 hours (it took until after school)!
Here are Kaili and John tasting!
Caitlyn and Annelise voting on if they liked it or not!
Kyla did not like it!
Our graph!
We ended our fun with apples by making "baby apple pies" (aka, apple turnovers)!
They are so simple and fun for the kids to make all by themselves, I hope you will make them at home!
All you will need is a can of biscuits (big ones), a can of apple pie filling, cinnamon and sugar!
You roll out the biscuit into a big circle.
Spoon some apple pie filling into the center.
Fold it over.
Press the edges with a fork.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Bake at 350 for 14-16 minutes!
YUM!

YUMMY!
We at them during rest time, it was a special treat!
Thank you for those friends who sent in apples and biscuits for this adventure! We couldn't have done it without you!!!
Last, but not least, we played a new math game "Roll an Apple." The kids loved rolling the die, counting the pips, and coloring the corresponding apples! This is in their math journal!
