CWES Explorer of the Week!
I am sure you've seen your child with a yellow "Caught BEE-ing good" certificate! Every day, teachers are on the look out for children making great choices (particularly in the hall, or anywhere outside the classroom). If they receive a yellow certificate, they get to go to the office and pick out a treat AND Mrs. Meadows cuts off the bottom portion of the slip and it goes into a kindergarten jar. On Fridays, Mrs. Snyder draws a winner for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades to be the Explorer of the Week! If your name is drawn, you receive a certificate, your name announced on the morning news and you are featured on the bulletin board by P.E.! It is a BIG DEAL! The very first week we had CWES Explorers of the Week, our very own Kallissa Johnson WON! :)

We are so very proud of you Kallissa!
Parents, please encourage your students to "GET CAUGHT BEE-ING GOOD" each day!
:)
With My Best,
Happy Birthday To YOU!
Happy Birthday these sweet loves...

It has been so much fun celebrating each of your birthday's during the months of August and September! :)
Love,
Colors, Colors, Everywhere!
We began our study on colors by learning the colors in the rainbow. We LOVE this Sid the Science Kid Colors of the Rainbow song! Check the link out below...
We then made our names using those same rainbow colors and small pieces of construction paper. This was a great fine motor activity and our first GLUE activity! :)

Last, but not least, we completed a Brown Bear emergent reader. I hope you had fun on your "homework task" of your child reading to you! We are always working on those color words!

With My Best,
Guest Readers...
We LOVE having guest readers in our classroom! Mrs. Snyder came to each class at CWES to read a book and get to know each class! We were so excited to have her come and read Yes We Can! We talked about the things we are not good at doing and the things we are good at doing!
Every other Monday, we have a regular guest reader: Mrs. Linda Darnell. Mrs. Linda used to teach 2nd grade at Cary Woods and she is our Andrue's grandmother! Her first visit is pictured below. She read Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors, passed out a cloth square to each child and we got to hear the song from the book! It was amazing!
Here is the song, if you want to listen...
WARNING: You might need a tissue! :)
With My Best,
Week TWO!
During our second week of kindergarten, we were doing SO WELL with centers, we were able to begin free choice centers using our tree choice board. Each spot on our tree will be a center. We are slowly adding a center each week, as we review rules and expectations for each new center!
Here are a few friends choosing their center...
I love to take center pictures as much as I can!
While children are working in centers, I am able to call children over for small group lessons.
Our first small group lesson was making our Chicka Chicka Name Trees!
I hope you enjoyed seeing them at Curriculum Night!

During our "All About Me" week, our second small group activity was completing a house glyph. A glyph is a pictorial representation of a question. We will be completing a glyph each month this year. You will see them hanging in our room, and once they come down, they will be added to our Math Journal that you will get at the end of the year.
