Pumpkin Fun!

I don't know what could be better than seeing what we did in OCTOBER in JANUARY! :)  Sorry for the blog issues!  I was well on my way to creating a Word Press blog (instead of Blogger) when I asked my husband if he could help.  Not sure why it took me 3 months (he's a computer guy)!  Anyway, to make a long story short, Blogger is owned by Google.  Google also owns the browser Chrome.  If you try ANY other web browser to upload photos, you can forget about it.  But use Google's Chrome and they MAGICALLY appear!!!!  AHHHH!!!!!! :)
I am just so excited that you can be a part of our classroom again!
Let the picture OVERLOAD begin! :)

We ended the month of October with PUMPKIN fun!  Here are a few pictures of our activities!

Miss Dumas, our AU lab student in the fall, helped us by working with small groups to see if pumpkins would SINK or FLOAT.  The children predicted, and then experimented.

We started off with a small pumpkin, and it floated!
Our GIANT pumpkin floated too!
When we carved the pumpkin we discovered why they float--they are hollow on the inside!

We measured how many  links around our pumpkin was.

We measured how tall our pumpkin was with cubes!

We voted on which type of face to carve: SCARY or HAPPY
Which one won?

Last, but not least, when we carved our pumpkin we got to scoop out the seeds AND count them!
