Our new centers!!!!!

I am BEYOND excited that TWO of our classroom grants were fully funded on Donorschoose.org!  My first grant was for new home living materials and the second grant was for 3 iPad minis!  The Donaldson Corporation (we have one in Auburn) funded both grants in one week!  I am so grateful and appreciative to them!  They have helped make our classroom better!  Here are a few pictures...
The kids were so excited when the iPad boxes came!  We received our cases on Friday and then the iPads came on Monday!
The two navy iPads are our center iPads.  The teal one in the middle is our thematic research iPad, and the one we will use to document things going on in our classroom!
Ezra and Cayden were some of the first friends to try them out!

Tre and Jayden

Home Living items came in for days!

Don't forget to sign and return your iPad Rules sheet in your child's Friday folder!
I hope you are having a great weekend!

Apples, Apples, Everywhere!

This week we've been learning all about APPLES!  It's been a great mini-theme to get the kids interested and ready for our big yearly theme: the rainforest!  Take a picture walk through our apple adventures this week...
We began our week learning about the life cycle of apples!  We will do more with that next week!  Oh how I wish we had an apple orchard near Auburn, I myself have never picked an apple off a tree, how fun would that be to take the kids to do!!!!
We also tasted a green, red and yellow apple and graphed our favorite!  Yellow and red were very close!
The kids were FASCINATED with our apple cutter!  It was great!  :)

 Elijah and Braden
 David and Mileigh
Tre is coloring his apple to graph!  He liked red!
Jessie is debating on whether she liked red or yellow the best!
 Jakarii is really concentrating!

On Friday, we made our very own baby apple pies (the look more like turnovers, but the kids LOVE THEM)!  If you want to make them at home, they are super easy!  You need:
  • 1 can of regular-sized biscuits
  • 1 can of apple pie filling
  • cinnamon
  • sugar
You press/roll out a biscuit into a large circle.  Add a few spoonfuls of apple pie filling.  Folder over the biscuit and use a fork to seal the edges.  Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and bake according to the can of biscuit directions.  We baked ours for 14 minutes at 350!

They are unbelievably easy and fun to make with your child!

 Beth Ann rolling her biscuit.
Righley "smooshing and pushing" as we called it!
 Jakarri is really getting it!
Macy is sprinkling the cinnamon and sugar mixture on top of her pie.
 E'Lexiz
Aikam is scooping her apples onto her pie.
 Elijah sprinkling.
 Mileigh sprinkling.
David scooping out his apples (Braden is posing!)!
Jessie and Kristen rolling out their dough.

Jacob and Ezra stayed with me during the entire time we made our pies!  They were so excited and BIG helpers!

M&M Fun!

We began our week by completing our M&M color graph!  The kids had a BALL doing this and loved getting to bring home their M&M's!  Thanks to the McConnell family for sending in the M&M's to do this project!
We had to look at the color word to color our graph key!
